Multiprotocol Layer Switching

Are you considering upgrading your telecommunications infrastructure? Multiprotocol Layer Switching (MPLS) is a highly scalable mechanism for high performance telecom networks used by companies of all sizes. If you do not want to trouble yourself with installing a lot of new hardware, MPLS is the way to go. MPLS will increase your connectivity without adding hardware. An MPLS network functions via a cloud based network with each node connecting to the CyberNet’s MPLS cloud. Point to point connectivity requires a router interface connection on both ends and MPLS allows for adding new connections without having to add more hardware at the primary site. This will surely reduce costs of hardware. MPLS will increase up-time by providing alternative network paths. One of the most notable advantages of MPLS is that it is not tied to one protocol or transport medium. It supports Internet Protocol, Ethernet, Asynchronous Transfer Mode and frame relay. Any of these protocols can be used to create an LSP. Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) extends MPLS to manage time-division multiplexing, lambda switching and other switching technologies. The MPLS VPN is more secure than a regular internet connection, however it runs no encryption. It is free from eavesdropping unless the VPN is misconfigured. Also, one of the benefits of MPLS is the ability to assign quality of service to traffic. Due to MPLS working with a system of labels, users can determine prioritization levels of those labels. MPLS has greater reliability and predictability of traffic within the network. In case the network fails, users can just switch over the entire path to avoid the failure, which cannot be done with IP.

In case you wish to upgrade you connection to MPLS, do not hesitate to give CyberNet Communications a call, and we will provide you with the most reliable and affordable service in the business.
